My Favorite Quote

For my first blog post I was asked to choose a quote that represents my personality. There are lot's of quotes that I really like but one that shows a belief that I value perfectly. One of the best soccer players to ever live, Pelé, once said, "Success is no accident. It is hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice and most of all, love of what you are doing" (Pelé). I really love this quote for many reasons but you may ask, who is Pelé?
Pelé is considered the greatest soccer player of all time to some people. He was born on October 23, 1940 and raised in Brazil. He also played soccer in Brazil, for Santos professional soccer club when he was 15, and the Brazilian national team when he was 17. He competed in the world cup many times for Brazil. His efforts helped Brazil win three world cup titles. Pelé was an outstanding soccer player and is also an outstanding person as he is an ambassador for soccer and other humanitarian causes.      I really love this quote for many different reasons. I can connect to every word in the quote because I truly believe that if you are doing something that you don't love, then you are wasting your time. We have a limited time to live on earth, and I do not believe that we should let this time go to waste by doing things we don't enjoy. If you do not have a true passion for what you are doing, then you need to find something else to do. Otherwise you are just wasting precious time. Not only are you wasting time if you are doing something you do not love, but you will also never be truly successful. Success is not just about how much money you make or how big your house is. It's about passion and love. If you love what you do, if you are passionate about what you do, then you can be successful no matter what. Don't get me wrong, success isn't just given to anyone who loves what they do. Like the great Pelé stated, it is no accident to be successful. I love to play soccer, and I have worked hard to improve my skills for a while now.
I am a student of the game, and I study it all the time, I constantly work on drills even if I don't get them down after a few tries. I connect to this quote because I can apply every word of it to my life. You have to work hard, persevere, learn, study, and sacrifice to be successful. If you combine all of those things with a passion and there is absolutely nothing that can stop you from being successful. I know this as a fact because it has happened to me. I learn and study for school, and I end up getting good grades. I work hard, and I persevere in soccer, and I made the high school team. This quote is so good because it can inspire anyone to be successful through a few simple tips from a man anyone would consider to be very successful. Those are the reasons I chose that quote from Pelé and I hope others will connect to it as well.
